The Paramedic Lenny Joyner Award
The FDNY EMS Command suffered a huge loss on July 24th, 2012. FDNY Station 7 Paramedic Lenny Joyner was tragically killed in a hiking accident. Lenny set an example as a fine FDNY Paramedic through his commitment to excellence both on and off the job. Lenny’s dedication to fitness was apparent as he was the first to finish in our inaugural FDNY 5K. The day before our run, he completed his first marathon. Lenny set the bar high and we are inspired by his accomplishments. We remember and honor his memory with a annual first place trophy awarded to the top male finisher of the FDNY 5K. Paramedic Lenny Joyner was a great example of a fine first responder; he was compassionate, knowledgeable and professional. Above all, he is our brother, he is greatly missed, and we celebrate and honor his memory! RIP 4790
The Paramedic Lieutenant JoAnn Restko Award
FDNY Station 7 Paramedic Lieutenant JoAnn Restko was Tragically killed on June 18th, 2016 after completing her 35th high peak in the Adirondacks. JoAnn played a huge role in planning and organizing of the FDNY 5K run in 2016. She enjoyed the camaraderie and was passionate about the memory of Lenny Joyner. At her side at the event was her pitbull mix, Beanie. Beanie also joined JoAnn for all of her high peak adventures and continues to do so with her new owner. JoAnn's love for animals was apparent when she adopted Beanie from The Animal Care and Control 9 years ago. With support from the Joyner Family this year we will honor her memory with The JoAnn Restko First Place Female Finisher Award. In addition, Station 7 will host The "JoAnn Restko Adopt an Animal Day" sponsored by North Shore Animal League. The Event details for 2019 are pending.
